Gina Komorowski, from Harmon Middle School in Pickerington, is the kind of teacher every student should have. She provides her students with unconditional acceptance and believes in them in a way that motivates them to rise above obstacles and grow personally and academically. She works with students who traditionally don’t have strong academic self-concepts or self-efficacy. By providing high expectations, interactive and engaging lessons, and support for her students in a positive environment, Mrs. Komorowski changes lives. Students who work with her achieve academically, but even more importantly learn to believe that they are worthy of success. This year her classroom has 30 students, and she still manages to meet with every student in a small group regularly. Her conversations with students are so encouraging. She is truly a remarkable teacher.
